Bad "Luck" in 3s?

By luck I really mean circumstances, unfortunate ones in this case.

Case in point: When Jake leaves bad things happen at the house.
1.) Jake goes to Iraq for 10 months, Danielle has a cockroach crawl in her ear while sleeping, it comes out but unfortunately damages her eardrum. We spend the next week (Danielle longer, understandably so) sleeping every night with cotton balls in our ears.

2.) Jake goes to Japan to blow stuff up, Hawaii has the worst winter storms in about 10 years which leads to record rainfalls. Of course this is the time that the laundry room floods. We call USMC housing but they never show up. We get to clean it up ourselves.

3.) And this time, Jake goes to Hawaii to 'work' and what happens tonight? We find out that (a week before) when we had moved the fridge out to paint we may have loosened the wire that feeds water into the ice maker. Well after a week it slowly leaked under the wall that separates the kitchen from the dining room. The carpet and the pad are completely soaked. We managed to turn off the water to the ice maker but it had still done it's damage. Good thing the carpet cleaner was already scheduled to come tomorrow!

So what does this prove? This proves that my bad running streak has to be over after tonight. It was the third in a painfully long string of runs that were truly terrible. My shin splints are back with a vengenance and I'm starting to wonder if it could be a combo of the running paths and the shoes that I have only had for about 100 miles.

Anyway, I expect my bad 'luck' to be over on my next run on Wednesday. I am confident of this. I lathered my shins with a herbal mixture designed to melt away pain and hopefully the ibuprofen will kick in quickly. Who cares if it lowers my immune system, as long as the pain and swelling goes away. :)

Week 5 of 16 begins!
